I am finally starting to feel like I am at home. Although, it is hard not to in la ville magnifique. It probably helped that I visited Georgetown Cupcake....
Just kidding.... it is Le Flore en l'Ile, that serves some of the best (or at least most famous) ice cream in Paris.
Yum. I had chocolate and coffee but literally every flavor (including licorice.....?) is delicieux.
It helps that the brasserie/glacerie is a short bridge away from Notre Dame!
Sadly, the line to enter l'eglise was much worse than any Georgetown Cupcake line that I've seen, so I skipped the tourist moment. Will probably return soon though - the rose window is breath-taking.
I was able to spot a gem though - you know you're in Paris when this is totally normal:
Yes, I am referring to the gentleman in the man-capris and man-purse (I believe it is correctly deemed a 'satchel' in The Hangover....). Regardless of where I am, this is SO not okay.
After these marvelous sites, I spent the rest of the day exploring and visiting my old favorite spots. Naturally, I ended my adventure in le jardin luxembourg (my new favorite running spot and the only place where 'les sneakers' are kind of acceptable).
Me and a few of my program-mates bought le vin et les crepes and had a glorious picnic! Clearly I am really straining myself to acclimate...
Once the sun set, we explored la rue Mouffetards which has tons of fun bars/cafés.... and made some friends. But couldn't stay out late because we are leaving at the crack of dawn for Giverny tomorrow (aka the location of Monet's home-turned-museum/gardens). Luckily, j'adore Monet et l'impressionisme, so I'm psyched!
A bientot!
